Positioned directly within the mechanical gearshift linkage layout in the engine compartment, its primary function is to transmit mechanical shifting movements from the driver's gear lever into the transmission selector assembly. Over time, the factory original rod plastic sockets split and degrade, causing a sloppy, imprecise feel at the shifter. Replacing this component eliminates excessive free-play and restores a crisp, firm engagement to your vintage manual transmission gates.
