The TOPRAN Cover Plate, releaser (100 068) is an original-equipment-quality manual transmission casing component manufactured by TOPRAN. Positioned directly at the far end-casing of the gearbox housing, its primary function is to act as a structural seal cap covering the internal clutch release bearing (throw-out bearing) assembly. On unique inverted clutch designs, the release bearing sits at the rear of the transmission rather than inside the bellhousing. This heavy-duty pressed plate seals the mechanical fluid chamber, preventing vital gear oil from leaking out onto the ground while protecting the pushrod and release mechanisms from road dirt, moisture, and debris.

⚠️ Technical Installation Notice: This cover plate is engineered strictly for the legendary VAG 020 type rod-shifted manual transmission family (frequently recognized by its iconic green factory cap color). Because it is a friction-fit press cap, it is designed to distort slightly upon seating to create an airtight seal and cannot be reused once removed. Whenever you access the clutch release bearing or actuation finger located behind this plate, you must discard the old cap and tap a new one into place. Never over-strike the center during installation, or you will bow the metal and trigger an immediate gear oil leak. It will NOT fit cable-shift 02A, 02J, or newer 02M/02Q gearboxes.
